Learning outcomes

Knowledge: The graduate knows and understands
1) to an in-depth degree, the scope and subject specificity as well as theories explaining complex relationships between fact, objects and phenomena relevant to the sciences of social communication and media in the field of information science
2) research methodology appropriate for the sciences of social communication and media, in particular information science
3) main development trends of sciences of social communication and media, particularly in the field of information science
4) concepts of information and science management as well as research methods, including those appropriate for the analysis and design of information management strategy and tools in entities from different sectors
5) to an in-depth degree, the scope and subject specificity as well as theories specific for information architecture, including the interdisciplinary context of analyses and interpretations of cultural products in this area and the principles of selecting appropriate means, including technological ones, to solve specific organizational and research programs
6) concepts, research methods and rules of selection appropriate for information science, used in the design, analysis and evaluation of information systems in various ICT environments
7) research methods specific for information science, used in the analysis of users’ need and information behaviors, including their interactions with digital information products and services, as well as in assessment and development of their information skills
8) social, economic and cultural contexts and dilemmas of building and receiving information resources, products and services
9) creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship, applicable in broadly understood information activity
10) ethical and legal conditions of intellectual property and personal data protection and their connection with the issues of designing and providing information services
11) specialist terminology used in sciences of social communication and media, particularly in information science
12) philosophical foundations of the operation of artificial intelligence.
Skills: The graduate can
1) use research methods of social communication and media sciences, in particular those appropriate for information science, used in the analysis and design of information systems and services
2) use research methods of social communication and media sciences, in particular those appropriate for information science to analyze users’ information needs and behaviors, including their interaction with digital information products and services, as well as to assess and develop their information skills
3) select the appropriate sources and information derived from them, and carry out their evaluation, critical analysis, synthesis, creative interpretation and presentation in terms of problems specific for information architecture, while respecting the law, including copyright
4) select the right methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques, to define and resolve complex and atypical problems in the field of information architecture, as well as adapt these tools and methods to the conditions of a specific problem, or create new ones
5) formulate and analyze research problems of social communication and media sciences, particularly in the field of information science, as well as present and interpret the results of their own research
6) communicate on specialist topics related to information architecture, using proper terminology and forms of communication, tailored to communication competences of specific groups of recipients
7) conduct debates on topics from the field of information architecture and related issues, including social, economic and cultural contexts of information resources, products, services and environments
8) use a foreign language at B2+ level as defined by the European Framework of Reference for Languages, including specialist terminology of information architecture in this language
9) collaborate with other people as part of team work and take a leadership role in a team, including managing its work
10) independently plan and carry out their own life-long learning and guide others in that regard
11) select appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques, to define and solve complex and atypical problems in the area of information and knowledge management system of entities from various sectors
12) select and use digital tools and methods appropriate for digital humanities to research, analyze and share broadly understood products of analog culture.
Social competences: The graduate is ready to
1) critically evaluate the possessed knowledge, including its gaps, and to critically evaluate the received content
2) recognize the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems specific for information architecture, and properly select experts to consult in the event of difficulties in solving a problem on their own
3) fulfill social obligations, inspire and organize activity for the benefit of social environment , and initiate activities for the public interest
4) think and act in an entrepreneurial way
5) comply with ethical principles in information activity, including applying these principles in the planned functionalities of designed information solutions
6) responsible performance of professional roles, taking into account the changing social needs and technological conditions.
