Eastern Slavic Studies, with major in Cultural Studies of Central and Eastern Europe, part-time (extramural), first-cycle (NZ1-SSW-KUESW)

Upon completion of first cycle degree programme, a student will:
• have basic knowledge of the region (two selected states), with particular focus on cultural changes, as well as, historical, political, social, literary events etc. in the states of the region
• have basic knowledge within the frameworks of cultural studies' terminology including historical perspective of East-Central Europe (trends, texts, researchers of cultural studies) and the specific character of these studies' development in the states of the region.
• analyse impact of historical events on the development of the literature of the states of the region.
• have basic knowledge of diversity of trends, styles and tendencies of each stage of development of culture and art, as well as literature and language of selected states of the region
• know the most important historical and political-cultural events of the selected states of the region; be able to mention and characterise activities of outstanding individuals who have influenced history of nations
• at the basic level, describe political and national transformations, as well as, religion-related and cultural processes within the area of East-Central Europe from the ancient times to the 20th century
• have knowledge of contemporary Belarus, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, from the half of the 20th century to present time
• interpret social and cultural processes taking place in the region
• find connections between the history of the region and contemporary culture and literature of the states of the region
• have language skills concerning three foreign languages, one of these at B.2 level and two other selected languages at B. l level
