Learning outcomes

We have more than one version of this field. Click below and select the version you want to see:

1. Selected learning outcomes:
- demonstrates knowledge on the structure and geological history of the most important orogens in Poland, demonstrates knowledge on the basic resources exploited in these areas, recognizes their processing techniques and applications
- demonstrates basic knowledge on extinct organisms (invertebrates, vertebrates, plants and microorganisms), recognizes basic fossils characteristic of Phanerozoic systems
- demonstrates theoretical knowledge for autonomous preparation of geological maps, in geological remote sensing and subsurface geological mapping
- has knowledge of the basic crystal laws and systems as well as properties of crystals; understands the optical features of crystals and their significance for rock recognition and determination of technical properties of minerals and their orientation; has an opinion on the formation and occurrence of minerals in the natural environment and on their application
- is able to analyse the evolution of facies environments with regard to geotectonic transformations and evolution of biotic transformations in selected intervals of Earth’s history; is prepared to interpret orogenic phenomena based on analytical data; is able of combining data from different branches of geology in a consistent unity that allows recognizing the history of selected regions of Europe in particular stratigraphic intervals
- has knowledge to explain relationships between the microstructure of various substances and their macroscopic properties; is able of linking properties of elements and compounds with their atomic structure and types of chemical bonds; can determine the shape of simple chemical compounds; can conduct simple chemical calculations
- has knowledge to classify and analyse basic tectonic structures and apply principles of determining their age, determine deformational processes leading to their formation and reconstruct stress fields responsible for their formation; has skills in using stereographic projections
- knows how to apply methods of geomorphological analysis, recognizes land forming processes and land forms in lowlands, knows how to indicate the relationship between sediment type and form of its occurrence, knows how to recognize, describe the features and determine the origin of Quaternary deposits, autonomously measures, prepares and describes geological sections and cross-sections
- has competence in the application of a correct set of research tools in the recognition and prospecting for particular ore resources and is able to recognise geological environments favouring the basic genetic types of resources, is able to design a generalized program for prospecting and research for basic types of resources.
