Criminology, evening MA studies (NW2-KR)

Annot.1 The effects of education for the programme (8-10 most important ones)
After graduating, a student shall demonstrate the following knowledge / skills / competencies:
1. He knows the concepts and the institutions of criminal law, police law and the law binding for other uniform services as well as family and guardianship law, social law, criminology and auxiliary sciences of criminal law.
2. He possess extended knowledge of the essence of social sciences, in particular criminology and victimology as well as the knowledge in the scope of criminal policy including crime prevention strategies
3. He can explain and classify crime through theoretical concepts as well as analyse and evaluate events in the context of violating basic rights and plan corrective actions.
4. He can use the knowledge in the scope of crime detection and crime phenomenology working as an assistant to a judge or a prosecutor, as a police officer, a detective, a human rights defender and also choose proper means to deal with crime perpetrators, including appropriate means of restorative justice.
5. He can design and conduct empirical examinations including the use of various methods and techniques for verifying research hypotheses concerning among the others: crime determinants, victimisation risk, crime trends and also analyse crime statistics and crimes of particular types.
6. He can prepare and evaluate a program/strategy counteracting a specific category of crime and such phenomena as drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution.
7. He is aware of the dynamics of transformations of social issues which he approaches in an interdisciplinary way, and he can design solution strategies to such issues.
8. He is ready to co-operate with crime victims and refer them to institutions and organisations providing proper support.
9. He can collectively diagnose, devise strategies and plans to work with individual cases – “the customers” of the system of criminal justice
10. He is ready to work with crime victims and refer them to institutions and organisations providing adequate support, he is ready to collectively prepare aid projects.
