Learning outcomes

The major learning outcomes:
– a student possesses extended knowledge of at least one classical language, its origin and development;
– a student knows grammar and lexis of at least one classical language at an advanced level;
– a student possesses advanced knowledge of Renaissance literature, including periodisation, genealogy and the authors’ classical canons;
– a student has detailed knowledge of the major directions and the most prominent new achievements in the Renaissance studies;
– a student is independent in reading and translating texts in Latin, Italian and easy texts in ancient Greek;
– a student is able to identify the historical and cultural context of literary works;
– a student can additionally analyse and interpret literary works, using precise critical terminology and is capable of justifying his/her selected methodology;
– a student can make a critical analysis and interpretation of various types of texts and objects of ancient material culture relevant to his/her specialisation, using original approaches, including the latest achievements of humanistic sciences, in order to specify their meaning, social impact, position in the historical and cultural process, as well as their artistic and cognitive value;
– a student recognises the importance of tradition and cultural heritage of mankind as well as actively participates in actions for the benefit of preserving cultural heritage, especially this of ancient Greece and Rome;
– a student is deeply aware of the important role of ancient world studies and other humanistic sciences in preserving social development and bonds at various levels.
