Professional status:

1. Access to further education: doctoral schools, non-degree postgraduate studies 2. A graduate of the medical faculty acquires the right to practice medicine after completing at least a 12-month postgraduate internship and passing the Medical Final Examination with a positive result. The rules of practicing the profession of a doctor are regulated by the Act of 5 December 1996 on the professions of doctor and dentist (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 1731).

Learning outcomes

The graduate knows and understands:
(K_W1) development, structure and functions of the human body in normal and pathological conditions
(K_W2) symptoms and course of diseases
(K_W3) methods of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures appropriate for specific disease states (K_W4) ethical, social and legal conditions for practicing the medical profession and the principles of health promotion, and bases his knowledge on scientific evidence
(K_W5) methods of conducting scientific research
(K_W6) economic, legal, ethical and other conditions of various types of professional activity related to the medical field, including the principles of industrial property protection and copyright law
(K_W7) basic principles of creation and development of various forms of entrepreneurship.

Skills: the graduate is able to:
(K_U1) recognize medical problems and determine priorities in medical management
(K_U2) recognize life-threatening conditions and require immediate medical intervention
(K_U3) plan the diagnostic procedure and interpret its results
(K_U4) implement appropriate and safe therapeutic procedures and predict its effects
(K_U5) plan their own educational activity and constantly improve their knowledge in order to update their knowledge
(K_U6) inspire the learning process of others
(K_U7) communicate with the patient and his family in an atmosphere of trust, taking into account the patient's needs and pass on unfavorable information
(K_U8) communicate with colleagues in the team and share knowledge
(K_U9) critically evaluate the results of scientific research and properly justify the position
(K_U10) use their knowledge - formulate and solve complex and unusual problems and innovatively perform tasks in unpredictable conditions by: proper selection of sources and information from them, evaluation, critical analysis, synthesis, creative interpretation and presentation of this information, selection and application appropriate methods and tools, including advanced information and communication techniques
(K_U11) use a foreign language at B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and specialist terminology
(K_U12) critically evaluate the existing state of science and formulate original research theses.

Social competences: the graduate is ready to:
(K_K1) establishing and maintaining deep and respectful contact with the patient, as well as showing understanding for differences in worldviews and cultures
(K_K2) being guided by the good of the patient
(K_K3) observe medical confidentiality and patient rights
(K_K4) taking actions towards the patient based on ethical principles, with awareness of social conditions and limitations resulting from the disease
(K_K5) perceiving and recognizing their own limitations and making self-assessment of educational deficits and needs
(K_K6) promoting healthy behaviors
(K_K7) use objective sources of information
(K_K8) formulate conclusions from their own measurements or observations
(K_K9) implement the principles of professional camaraderie and cooperation in a team of specialists, including representatives of other medical professions, also in a multicultural and multinational environment
(K_K10) formulating opinions on various aspects of professional activity
(K_K11) accepting responsibility related to decisions made as part of professional activity, including in terms of their own and other people's safety
(K_K12) efficient organization of own and team work as part of the implementation of joint tasks and projects and critical assessment of the progress in achieving the assumed goals
(K_K13) lifelong learning, including the use of the latest professional literature (also in foreign languages) and expert advice
(K_K14) behave in a professional manner and observe the rules of professional ethics.
