1. Key learning outcomes for the programme: After completing the 1st-cycle programme, graduates: - have basic knowledge about the language, literature and culture of the areas where the languages they study are spoken; know and understand terminology used in applied linguistics; are able to provide linguistic support to human professional activity; - know two foreign languages at the C1 level; have extensive and solid vocabulary in various thematic fields; know morphological and syntactic structures; have solid foundations in the grammar of the languages they study; know basic information about the historical development of these systems from the earliest written records until today; - know basic terminology of linguistics, principles of language communication, are familiar with major directions and methods in linguistic research; understand grammatical terminology; have knowledge of selected pragmatic determinants of given linguistic systems - know the physical, economic and political geography of the area where their languages B and C are spoken; know major historical processes shaping present-day reality; use the terminology of social sciences in given languages; know the present-day sociopolitical situation in the areas where their languages B and C are spoken; - know and understand basic theoretical issues regarding language communication with special regard to the linguistic reality of their languages B and C; - are able to produce coherent and appropriately structured written texts stylistically appropriate for a given addressee in which they develop their views and support them with additional arguments and fitting examples; - are able to produce coherent and spontaneous oral texts on any topic in two foreign languages speaking fluently and in a stylistically, grammatically and phonetically correct manner; - are able to translate into their native language and foreign language simple press texts, taking care to eliminate negative transfer from the native language and avoid interference-related errors; - are able to prepare spoken presentations in Polish and their two languages B and C; - are ready to work on their own to expand their command of their languages B and C in further education and for professional purposes. 2. The speciality „Teaching of foreign languages at the early educational levels” (2nd and 3rd year) is taught on the basis of „Standardy kształcenia przygotowującego do wykonywania zawodu nauczyciela” Załącznik do rozporządzenia Ministra Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego z dnia 17 stycznia 2012 r.) 4. Total number of ECTS credits awarded for: - courses in basic sciences: 11 - practical courses: 72 - elective courses: 152 5. Teaching internship Students of the speciality Teaching of foreign languages at the early educational levels are required to complete 210 hours of teacher training, for which 14 ECTS credits are awarded. The teacher training is an integral part of the 1st-cycle programme. It may be completed in a variety of institutions that offer teaching services at early educational levels or as part of the student’s business activity if the student has a registered business offering teaching services. The teacher training internship involves psychological and paedagogical preparation for teaching at the early educational levels (pre-school and elementary school levels) and developing the skills needed to teach at these levels. It comprises both observations of lessons taught by other teachers (observing the group: lesson dynamics, description of pupils’ behaviour) and filing relevant information in the form of a trainee diary as well as teaching lessons in the first and second foreign language studied. By completing an internship, students acquire the following competences: - hands-on acquaintance with the characteristics of teaching at the early educational levels; - familiarity with principles of management of lessons at the early educational levels; - familiarity with methods of achieving teaching objectives at the early educational levels; - familiarity with day-to-day life at facilities offering teaching at the early educational levels; - familiarity with the principles of producing and maintaining educational documentation; - ability to verify their theoretical knowledge acquired during the university course by putting it to practice at an educational facility; - ability to organise their individual and team work, effectively manage time, be conscientious and responsible for carrying out assigned tasks.

Translation & interpreting internship Students of the speciality Specialised translation are required to complete 80 hours of translation and interpreting training, for which 3 ECTS credits are awarded. The translation and interpreting internship is an integral part of the 1st-cycle programme. It may take on a variety of forms: individual training at a company or institution in a post compatible with the profile of the study programme, including European Union institutions, as training organised by the University (work for the University and outside of it) and with foreign exchange programmes offered by the European Union. By completing the translation and interpreting internship, students acquire the following competences: - improved translation and/or interpreting skills by linking theoretical knowledge acquired in the course of study to translation practice; - familiarity with the characteristics of the professional community, - ability to effectively communicate in a team; - familiarity with the organisational structure, principles for organising work and division of competences, procedures, work planning and monitoring; - improved ability to organise one’s work and team work, effective time management, conscientiousness, responsibility for tasks one has been entrusted with.
