Knowledge: an alumnus
- has basic knowledge about the position and significance of the humanities and social sciences in scholarship and the specificities of the fields and their methodologies
- knows basic theories and concepts used in analysis of cultural and social phenomena in the field of American Studies
- has organized knowledge about the terminology and methodology in the field of studying the Americas
- has knowledge which allows them to integrate perspectives specific to a few fields of study (cultural studies, philosophy, history, literary studies, anthropology, sociology, political science, economics, media studies, geography) in researching the Americas and international relations
- has basic knowledge of the main directions of development and the most important recent achievements in the field of American Studies
- knows and understands basic methods of analysis and interpretation of various phenomena specific to select research traditions, theories, or schools in the field of studying the Americas
- has basic knowledge of the various types of social, cultural, political, legal, and economic structures and institutions in the Americas, as well as of their governing norms and rules
- has basic knowledge about the position of an individual and knows the types of social bonds in the Americas, as well as their governing regularities
- knows methods and tools, including techniques of gathering data, specific to social sciences and cultural studies concerning the Americas, which allow one to describe social structures and institutions and the ongoing processes between them
- knows and understands the basic methods of analysis and interpretation of products of American literary and audiovisual culture, as well as intellectual traditions in the context of historical, political, and social realities of the Americas
- has knowledge about the processes of changing social and cultural structures and institutions and their elements in the Americas, as well as the elements, causes, course, scale, ant consequences of these changes
- has knowledge about views on the social structures and institutions and their historical evolution
- differentiates between basic concepts and rules of Intellectual Property Protection and Copyright Law
- is aware of the complex nature of language as a tool for communication, its complexity and historical changes in meaning
- has in-depth knowledge about cultural institutions and is aware of contemporary social and cultural life in relation to American culture
- knows general rules of creating and developing forms of individual entrepreneurship, using knowledge from the field of American Studies

Skills: an alumnus
- is able to find, analyze, evaluate, select and use information from various sources in order to make generalizations about social and cultural phenomena in the Americas
- is able to explain and interpret various specific phenomena and processes in Americas’ development on the basis of theories from social sciences and humanities
- under the supervision of an academic advisor formulates research questions, uncovers and recognizes connections between fields of study within American Studies
- using theoretical knowledge and appropriate concepts can analyze and forecast social and cultural processes in the Americas
- using basic methods recognizes the significance, analyzes and critically interprets various social and cultural phenomena and processes
- is able to argue in favor of solving specific disputes referencing acquired knowledge and various opinions
- communicates in Polish and a foreign language about social sciences and humanities using specialist terminology
- selects appropriate sociological norms to settle specific problems in the field of American Studies
- using theories and source materials prepares various written essays in Polish and a foreign language in the field of studying the Americas
- using theories and source materials prepares various oral presentations in Polish and a foreign language in the field of studying the Americas
- demonstrates language skills in the field of American studies on at least a B1 level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
