1. Learning outcomes:
On completion of the programme of study the graduate:
• has knowledge about the place of early child education in the system of social sciences and related disciplines, and knows the basic terminology of pedagogical sciences, including psychological and social knowledge about the child from birth to the end of the first stage of education;
• has knowledge about the biological, psychological and cultural-social determinants of human development, with particular emphasis on children from birth to the end of the first stage of education;
• knows selected psychological theories of human development, with special emphasis on theories of cognitive, socio-emotional and moral development of the child from birth to the end of the first stage of education;
• has knowledge about contemporary theories of education, upbringing and socialisation of children from birth to the end of the first stage of education and their philosophical, historical, socio-cultural, psychological, biological and medical foundations;
• has psychological-pedagogical knowledge about children with diverse educational needs and knowledge about the diversity of their backgrounds, the specificity of the processes taking place in them and the educational implications;
• can use theoretical knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, didactics and methodology for diagnosis and prognosis of pedagogical situations and for selecting strategies of implementing practical activities for working with children from birth to the end of the first stage of education;
• has diagnostic skills allowing for the identification of the situation of children with diverse educational needs: developing results, formulating conclusions and creating individual development support programmes for children from birth to the end of the first stage of education depending on the different educational needs and opportunities;
• can design educational activities for children from birth to the end of the first stage of education, can assess the suitability of methods, means, materials and good practices for the implementation of caring, didactic and educational tasks;
• takes individual and team actions to improve the quality of work.
2. Studies in ECTS credits and the number of semesters: 180 credits, 6 semesters
3. The programme is based on standards for teacher education: Regulation by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 17 January 2012 on training standards for the teaching profession
4. Number of ECTS credits attributable to:
- fundamental courses: 60 ECTS;
- practical courses, including laboratories and projects: min. 10 ECTS
- elective courses - 54 ECTS
5. Teaching practice: min. 150 hours, min. 10 ECTS within individual modules.
