1. Learning outcomes: On completion of the programme of study the graduate: • has an expanded knowledge of the sociological, psychological, pedagogical concepts regarding children’s and youth’s development and education, as well as their institutional implications and cultural conditions; • knows educational methods suitable for preschool and early childhood education; • has a rich language resource (vocabulary, grammar, spelling and phonetics) enabling the use of English at an advanced level; • can use theoretical knowledge to design learning situations at different stages of education including the practical effects of various social life events; • is able to assess and to substantiate the effectiveness of educational methods used in work with children at different stages of education, make a written evaluation report in English, as well as prepare an oral presentation of the results; • can adapt pedagogical activities to the individual needs of children and youth at different stages of education; • has the ability to prepare a variety of written works in English at C1 level; • has the ability to prepare presentations in English at C1 level; • understands the importance of the need to improve their professional competence in an interdisciplinary dimension; • undertakes pedagogical activities which are the result of reflection and in-depth analysis of their practical experience in working with students; • is able to work in a team of teachers when solving important problems for education in a given institution, to support others and benefit from the support, create a democratic culture of the functioning of the institution; • is creative and open to new initiatives and educational innovations for student development, the integration of parents and the local community with an educational institution; takes care of the preservation of cultural heritage.
2. Studies in ECTS credits and the number of semesters: 120 credits, 4 semesters 3. Number of ECTS credits attributable to: - fundamental courses: 24 ECTS; - practical courses, including laboratories and projects: max. 10 ECTS - elective courses – 50 ECTS 4. Pedagogical practice: 150 hours, 10 ECTS within individual modules
Competences: During practice, students shape their didactic competence by: 1) getting acquainted with the specificity of the institution where the practice was taking place, including: getting to know the didactic tasks carried out, the functioning of the institution, the organization of work, the employees, the participants of the didactic process, as well as the records kept;
2) observation of classes in educational institutions, 3) cooperation with the mentor teacher, 4) conducting classes (acting as a teacher) 5) analysis of experiences (analysis and interpretation of observed or experienced situations and didactic events).
