Na studia I stopnia są przyjmowani kandydaci łącznie na trzy kierunki: ekonomia; finanse, inwestycje i rachunkowość oraz informatyka i ekonometria. Po pierwszym roku następuje wybór konkretnego kierunku.

Wszyscy studenci studiów I stopnia Wydziału Nauk Ekonomicznych uzyskują szeroką wiedzę z zakresu teorii mikroekonomii i makroekonomii w warunkach gospodarki otwartej oraz narzędzi analitycznych (analiza matematyczna, statystyka matematyczna, ekonometria), stanowiących podstawę zawodowego warsztatu ekonomisty każdej specjalności. Znają zastosowania analizy ekonomicznej i uzyskują wiedzę z wielu dziedzin potrzebnych w pracy zawodowej (podstawy informatyki, finanse, rachunkowość, zarządzanie, prawo handlowe). Kształcenie obejmuje również naukę języków obcych (głównie angielskiego biznesowego), w stopniu umożliwiającym ich używanie w pracy zawodowej. Ponadto dysponują wiedzą w zakresie innych dyscyplin społecznych, co pozwala zrozumieć społeczny kontekst funkcjonowania gospodarki. Wybrane przez studenta przedmioty uzupełniające główny nurt edukacji ekonomicznej (historia ekonomii, historia gospodarcza, demografia), pozwalają pełniej zrozumieć niejednolitość podejścia do problemów ekonomicznych, pobudzić zainteresowanie sposobami badania świata z wykorzystaniem podstaw rozumowania ekonomicznego.
Absolwenci WNE studiów I stopnia wiedzą, jak funkcjonuje gospodarka, rozumieją jej mechanizmy i potrafią tę wiedzę wykorzystać w różnych zastosowaniach praktycznych – przede wszystkim do wykonywania analiz ekonomicznych w skali pojedynczych firm, poszczególnych rynków, a także całego kraju stosując nowoczesne metody analityczne i narzędzia (w tym: matematyczne i informatyczne), podbudowane szeroką wiedzą społeczną, umiejętnościami zarządczymi i dobrą organizacją pracy.
Absolwenci dysponują ogólnymi umiejętnościami warsztatowymi, takimi jak wyszukiwanie, gromadzenie, analizowanie i prezentowanie danych lub redagowanie tekstów o charakterze analitycznym, z wykorzystaniem podstawowych technik informatycznych. Mogą te zadania wykonywać w formie pracy indywidualnej lub zespołowej, bowiem zadania w trakcie zajęć wykonują zarówno indywidualnie, jak i w grupach projektowych. Uczą się sumiennie zdobywać wiedzę i umiejętności oraz poddawać je rzetelnemu ocenianiu, co pozwala wykształcić cechy uczciwego i odpowiedzialnego studenta i pracownika o wysokim poziomie etyki zawodowej.
Dzięki nauce języka obcego, dostępowi do zajęć prowadzonych po angielsku, wyjazdom na stypendia w ramach programu Erasmus i innych umów umożliwiającym studia przez co najmniej 1 semestr w uczelniach zagranicznych, środowisku międzynarodowemu na Wydziale Nauk Ekonomicznych (stopień internacjonalizacji ponad 20%) czy goszczeniu wielu obcokrajowców (ponad 100 studentów każdego roku) absolwent WNE ma podstawy do podejmowania się zadań zawodowych wymagających użycia języka angielskiego, w tym w otoczeniu i w zespole międzynarodowym.
Wszyscy absolwenci – niezależnie od wybranego od II roku studiów kierunku i specjalności - mają wiedzę i umiejętności konieczne do pracy na stanowiskach ekonomistów i finansistów średniego szczebla w przedsiębiorstwach, instytucjach finansowych, w instytucjach publicznych, organizacjach non-profit, a ponadto szereg umiejętności szczególnie sprzyjających zatrudnieniu zgodnemu z wiedzą i umiejętnościami wyspecjalizowanymi. W czasie studiów istnieje możliwość uczestniczenia w zajęciach akredytowanych ACCA (zaliczenia przedmiotów uznawane jako równoważne egzaminom ACCA) , jak i SAS Data Mining Certificate Program.
Absolwenci są też przygotowani do samodzielnego doskonalenia wiedzy i kwalifikacji, jak również do dalszego kształcenia, w tym do podjęcia studiów II stopnia w najbardziej wymagających uczelniach krajowych lub zagranicznych. Rozumieją potrzebę systematycznego dostosowywania swoich kompetencji do zmieniającej się rzeczywistości gospodarczej i dynamicznie rozwijającej się wiedzy o niej.

The graduate of this specialization: - has basic knowledge of the functioning of international capital, labour, and currency markets; - knows the instruments used to settle transactions on foreign markets; - knows and understands the processes of monetary and economic integration and their consequences for private and public entities; - has basic knowledge of the rules of operation of international economic institutions and the rules established by them for international exchange and commercial aspects of intellectual property law; - can apply micro and macroeconomic models of foreign trade, international production, and international finance for empirical analyses, including the use of econometric tools; - can use the instruments used to make and settle transactions on foreign markets; - can analyse the processes of monetary and economic integration and their effects on private and public entities; - can conduct business analysis in the public and private sector and apply qualifications and legal and professional standards in accounting and management to make strategic and operational decisions in enterprises operating on foreign markets; - can prepare reports and present effectively the results of independent analyses, also in a foreign language at the minimum B2 level, in particular for the needs of international institutions and markets; and - is prepared to participate in the preparation of projects in the field of analyses of international economies and markets for entities operating in various sectors of the economy.

The graduate of this specialization: - knows and understands the theories of micro and macroeconomics, finance, insurance, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computer science, and programming, as well as their applications in modelling social and economic processes; - knows and understands quantitative methods used by economic and financial data analysts, including statistical, econometric, actuarial, computational, and IT methods used in the analysis of economic, financial, and management problems; - knows and understands research methods using selected IT tools, including programming languages and analytical tools from the SAS, R, Python, and Maxima groups; - knows and understands the principles of industrial property protection and copyright law applied by a data analyst in relation to sources of knowledge, data, and IT tools; - can combine theoretical knowledge with a comprehensive approach to data processing and analysis, including the methodology of processing large data sets ("big data") and data analysis with an undefined structure ("data mining", "text mining"); can select and apply methods and tools in the field of information and communication technologies; - can perform statistical, econometric and simulation analyses, forecast time series, use methods of quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including factor, discriminant, cluster, and multivariate analysis, as well as prepare reports and presentations about results, also in English; - can solve complex tasks using methods, tools, and selected programming languages (C, C ++, R, Python, SQL, VBA, and 4GL) to acquire, integrate, process, and analyse databases based on modern database systems; can plan and implement their own learning throughout their life; - can participate in debates, critically refer to the results of their own analyses and compare them with scientific research in economics and finance; can plan and organize their own work and work in a team, especially of an interdisciplinary nature; - can use English at the B2 CEFR level, including specialist terminology needed for work and research in the field of economics and finance; - is prepared to recognize a wide range of benefits of possessing the knowledge and skills related to complex data management in enterprises, research and financial institutions, banks, firms, and other entities, and is prepared to critically assess and expand their knowledge; - is prepared to actively participate in the work of analytical teams and to fulfil social obligations, implement complex projects, think in an entrepreneurial way, and work creatively within analytical teams; and - is prepared to observe professional ethical standards, fulfil the commitments made, as well as develops and disseminates the acquired competences and knowledge.
