Graduate Profile

After completing the studies a doctoral student can explain the reasons behind economic growth in developed and developing countries using neoclassic  and new models of economic growth and also can indicate policy tools and a proper strategy of raising the rate of economic growth and the reduction of various sources of inefficiency in an economy based on market  imperfections, cases of irrational decisions of business entities, cases of price inefficiencies caused by external effects, information asymmetry or lack of competition, cases of lack of institutions to aggregate individual preferences in society.

A doctoral student fluently knows contemporary academic literature in the scope of macroeconomics and finances and also knows advanced research methods. He/she knows how to use them to solve a precise economic problem.

The gained theoretical and practical  knowledge enables to conduct individual research in the scope of economy on a high academic level. The doctoral student can formulate and evaluate the significance of an original economic problem theoretically and also define its relevance in comparison to previous researches in that scope. For such a defined research problem a doctoral student can choose a proper research method in accordance with the latest achievements. He/she can also choose necessary data for the conducted research. A doctoral student can thoroughly  interpret the achieved results and their significance in comparison to previous  similar researches. He/she can identify an added value received from the conducted research.

The doctoral student knows the rules of ethical conduct especially in regard to scientific research. He/she strives to make replicating the presented research results possible.

Alumni possess the ability to popularize economic knowledge.

Moreover, alumni are conscious of constant expansion of their knowledge and research methods and the necessity to follow it constantly and also what comes with it - systematic work on one’s knowledge and professional abilities.

Alumni understand the gravity of problems occurring during research, their social significance and also can take part in social discourses of great magnitude.

Limit of places

20 (Limit of places in turn I is 10 people.) In the first round only international candidates are eligible for the studies, the number of places in the second round is 10. The places not used in the first round pass until the second round Students admitted to studies under II Without a payment for tuition, students may obtain a doctoral scholarship during the first year of studies. The number of scholarships for the first year is not less than 50%.
