Amharic language and culture course for the students of the second year of African studies with Amharic as a leading language:
- we develop the skills in Amharic in three areas: reading, writing, and speaking;
- we learn Ethiopian songs and dances;
- we deepen our basic knowledge about Ethiopia: culture, religion, history, and contemporary politics;
- we get to know Ethiopian kitchen.
And also we organize workshops.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- has extensive knowledge of Amharic language , its structure, history, script,
- is aware of the complex nature of Amharic language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Ethiopia
- is aware of the linguistic variety and its influence on the cultural and political situation of the world
Skills:
- has a good command of Amharic language at the intermediate level
- can analyze and interpret source texts in Amharic
- can translate literary texts and writings from Amharic into Polish
- can interpret key terms from a culture of Ethiopia through linguistic/philological analysis
- can fluently use the script of Amharic and the necessary tools to learn and analyze it.
Competence:
- understands the need to learn all one’s life
- can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations
- is able to establish relations and cooperate with representatives of other cultures
set appropriate goals and ways to achieve them in the context of academic, professional and social activity
- makes others aware of the cultural distinctness and its religious, philosophical, traditional and historical roots and its significance for understanding modern world
- sees the need of dialogue between cultures
- is aware of significance the culture of Ethiopia has for the culture of the world
