The foreign students will get a broader knowledge of important and interesting people, events, and facts of contemporary Polish culture and its pop-cultural dimension. You will learn about specifically Polish elements, but also find out how much of the cultural offer and identity comes with the global flows. Additionally, you will learn some of the basic terms in Polish, referring to Polish culture. The list of topics contains:
- Pop-cultural heroes of Polish imagination,
- Pop-cultural look at the Warsaw Uprising,
- Polish sports heroes,
- The phenomenon of Legia Warszawa football club,
- Polish cult movies, TV shows,
- Polish songs,
- Rap-story of Poland,
- Songs about Warszawa,
- Polish video games,
- Polish popular literature,
- Graphic novels.
I’ll be sending you links to the online content. So don’t be disappointed if we had to adjust to the changing virtual reality. This is an online/e-learning/self-study course, supported by the UW moodle platform (no worries, I’m going to help you with the access, etc.). The only “real” meeting is going to be your final test (the date TBA), but you are welcome to visit me at the Polonicum (you’ll be provided with my office hours’ information, etc.).
