Digital text 3001-PDG-OG
Online course, at the COME platform http://moodle.come.uw.edu.pl
The course focuses on the digital messages – their semiotic arrangement, their methods of formulating meanings, their esthetic and persuasive devices as well as the acts of communication they are creating or participating in. The course develops the students’ abilities to recognize various textual forms of digital discourse, compares and contrast those forms and describe the relation between the structure of the text and its impact on the recipient. Our analysis will also focus on the modifications of textual genres based on the examination of the chosen examples of digital messages. The course also reveals the role new media play in creating the cultural texts, including those classified as high-art. Furthermore, during the classes we will examine the issues of the interment’s influence on the perception of texts as well as culture in general. Finally, the course develops the students’ ability to critically address both the form and the content of the chosen digital texts and to contrast those messages with the previous forms of textuality.
