Introduction to the methodics of work with archaeological sources 2900-HAMC-INTRMETH
Introduction of historians to the methodics of work with archaeological sources; characteristics of various types of archaeological sites; types of archaeological sources; basics of classification of archaeological materials; typology and terminology of different categories of monuments (e.g., buildings, pottery, ornamentation, weapons, etc.); methods of determining the provenance of objects; methods of dating archaeological artefacts; methods of documentation of archaeological monuments (including the latest technologies used for this purpose); laboratory test used in research on archaeological objects; archaeological context and its influence on the interpretation of artefacts.

Assessment criteria
Each class commences with a short introductory statement by the teacher. Afterwards, based on the introduction and one or several publications that were provided beforehand, the class discusses the various aspects of the topic at hand.
Default type of course examination report: exam, pass for assessment, pass with grades, pass
Based on attendance – no more than 3 absences in a semester are allowed. Active participation in conversations during the course is subject to final grading.
