Intellectual property rights are the privileges given to persons over the creations of their minds. These rights give the author/inventor a special right over the use of his creation. Intellectual property rights are usually divided into two main areas: Copyright and rights related to copyright (the rights of authors of literary and artistic works) and Industrial property (the protection of trademarks, geographical indications, and as well the protection of innovation, design and the creation of technology).
