Mechanics of Rock Media 1300-OMOS11W-GES
The lecture comprises the following topics:
- basic terminology: stress and deformation state, long-term and catastrophic deformation processes, rules of in situ and lab analyses, theoretical solutions and real behaviour;
- application of the theories of elasticity, plasticity and brittle fracturing in the description of rock deformations in geological media;
- rules of determining states of stress and deformation: theoretical, laboratory, in surface field studies, boreholes and underground research labs (URL);
- recognition of resolution of rock massif parameters – undisturbed rocks and rock massif with discontinuity surfaces;
- theoretical fundamentals used in interpreting destruction mechanisms in rock media in compression, extension and shear conditions.
